no….not really….they’re both in the wrong for using the n word…..but he still went to her m&g…..and said it…..I’m so sick of this…..she’s been saying sorry for using that word in the past for MONTHS….how many times has ian apologized for using the n word? that’s right….ZERO…and you’d all literally rather see an 18 year old girl get flooded with hate than see ian have to own up to being racist…yeah tana is TOTALLY the bad guy in this situation lmao
missing the point again, he uses it without meaning and for satirical purposes and tana legitimately referred to people of color in that manner with recorded evidence. tana continues to exemplify shitty behavior but idubbbz is vilified by you mongoloids because he uses a “mean” word and “harasses” tana when she threw the first punch over twitter
In Defense of Tana Mongeau
Fuck it, I’m mad, let’s rant a bit, shall we?
I am so tired of this weird fucking mentality that goes around tumblr- no, you know what? The entire internet. I’m sick of this mentality that the entire internet has, that once people have fucked up, they are forever branded shit people.
Hi, if you think feminists are a bunch of whining fat lonely women and political correctness is for “pussies”, then I’m what you, my friend, would call a “social justice warrior”. Most of you already knew that. Why is this relevant to Tana? WELP.
If you’ve been watching the PDS or just up on Youtube drama, you know what went down between Tana and idubbbz. If you don’t, here’s the TL;DR
idubbbz showed up to one of Tana’s meet and greet posing as a fan. When she went to take a picture with him, he yelled out “Say N***er!” and freaked her the fuck out along with 9 other fans of hers that were there. She made a video about the incident and how she does not tolerate racism and how we shouldn’t either. This is the important part and what I’m mad about. Aside from idubbbz acting like a dick.
She talks in the video about how ignorant she used to be herself up until as recently as last year about how damaging racial slurs are, specifically the N word. Tana was 100% open and honest about having used the N word regularly in the past, not realizing the repercussions of her behavior, also admitting there’s video out there of her acting like that and how much she regrets it now. (She’s barely 18 okay, “in the past” to her literally means her early teen years) She goes into a lot of other things like white privilege for example. You should go check out the video in full.
So I thought, okay. That’s the end of that. idubbbz was a jackass and Tana was trying to use the incident for some good and make some valid ass points about people being problematic. BUT NO LOL THAT WASN’T THE END OF THAT BECAUSE WHY WOULD IT BE????
The internet did what it does and dug up the videos of Tana as like a 13-15 year old saying the N word and acting terrible, and now people have crucified her for it and I just- LET ME FUCKING TELL YOU SOMETHING.
I am the last person to excuse racism, and I do believe people should be called out for it. Yes, but this girl is clearly trying to be a better person. She didn’t just ignore it ever happened and glossed passed it. She came out, admitted it, apologized for it, and now wants to and is trying to get people to join her in getting educated, supporting human rights, and fighting racism.
I have no sympathy for people who deny their problematic behavior, or who just straight out don’t give a shit about it, but correct me if I’m wrong. Isn’t one of the goals of social activism to educate others and make them see the importance of spreading the message?
So many times I’ve seen people get called out for things, which is valid, but then literally everyone seems to forget half the point of calling someone out and just never wants to hear anything about it ever again. That’s it, this person is an asshole, end of story. I get that a lot of the time, yeah, people have no desire to listen to us, but when someone wants to be better, isn’t that a win? When someone wants to listen us, is that not what we hope for? When someone wants to join us, is that not what we encourage?
AND ANOTHER THING
When the person in question is a teenager, to me? Yes, it is different. You know why? Because I was that teenager. I’ve causally said “n***a” in conversation when I was a kid. I’ve used sexist, racist, and homophopic language. I held the belief that as long as it was a joke, it was okay. I’ve said shit like “I don’t see color” and thought that somehow absolved me from being a racist. I’ve made the rape jokes, I’ve defended the abusers, and I’ve contributed to the erasure non binary sexualities and gender identities. I was wrong, and it was a giant punch to the gut when I realized just how wrong I had been. I’m 24 now and I could not be further from the person I was when I was a kid. I am not perfect, I never will be, none of us will- but if I was branded by what my character was when I was a literal ignorant child, I’d never be able to use the space I take in this society for anything positive.
Let’s be honest, neither would you. No one is born socially aware, and sadly not a whole lot of us are raised to be either. Social awareness is taught. It is something to absorb, pass on, and fight on the behalf of in any way we can. It’s something to spread as far as we can. How can we do that if we deny those who have heard us and want to join us? How can we do that if we are not willing to guide those who have shown they are willing to be shown how to fight along side us?
This isn’t even really about Tana. It’s about the type behavior we have shown her and others like her. The point of this rant wasn’t to paint Tana like some saint that knows exactly how to be the perfect ally and thus far can do no wrong ever. I’m not even telling you how to feel with what she thought was okay in the past. It’s absolutely enraging that the environments our children around in make them feel like behavior like that is acceptable and okay.
but for the love of fucking god, help them. Don’t turn your back on the youth who wants to do good in this world. Give chances to those who may be older, but don’t want to stay stuck in their ways. I know what we do is tiring, but that’s what we signed up for. It’s frustrating and saddening when we get met with the usual resistance and willful ignorance we’re used to, so take the good when you can. More “warriors” is always good. Let’s gear them up to be their best.
Side note: Why the fuck is everyone busy being pissed at Tana when idubbz doesn’t give an actual fuck that he pulled the shit that he did? Um. Okay?
Alright I’m done.
THIS EXPLAINS ALMOST EXACTLY HOW I FEEL. TANA IS A FUCKING BABY STILL CAN WE GIVE HER A DAMN BREAK??!?!?!?
she’s eighteen you fucking ingrates. she is legally an adult, and she tried passing off actual acts of discrimination with poor and bland excuses pleading ignorance and whatnot, and tana originally targeted idubbbz in a tweet, which also told him to “kill himself.” he took it upon himself to make a joke for his video, which consisted of buying a ticket and buying merchandise that fills her pocket and meeting her without inflicting any of the violent acts which she publicly lied about, and you act like it was some sort of act of violence or some shit since idubbbz is the original victim and he used a mean word for DEMONSTRATION purposes. she’s not a fucking baby for christ’s sake you are all genuinely mentally slow if you stand for this bigoted attention whore’s selfish behavior. she’s the one who exploits views with clickbaity drivel of content and her inclusion of idubbbz as her little pawn was no different. holy shit how fucking dumb can you be
